HOW TO USE A MAGNETIC STIRRER WITH HOT PLATE?

Image
Magnetic Stirrer A magnetic stirrer also known as a magnetic stir plate or magnetic mixer is a laboratory device used for mixing or stirring liquid samples or solutions. It typically consists of a flat or round plate made of a magnetic material, which is placed on a hotplate or a magnetic stirrer hotplate. The hotplate contains an electromagnet underneath that creates a rotating magnetic field when powered on. A small, bar-shaped magnet called a stir bar or flea is placed inside the liquid container or breaker. The rotating magnetic field generated by the hotplate causes the stir bar to spin creating a vortex that stirs the liquid in the container. The speed of the stirring can usually be adjusted using a control knob or digital interface on the magnetic stirrer hotplate. Magnetic stirrers are commonly used in scientific and research laboratories for a wide range of applications, including mixing reagents, dissolving solids in liquids, homogenizing samples, and maintaining consis...

Parameters To Select Your Stirring Range For Laboratory Use

Image
Stirring and agitation are common steps in almost all research and testing labs worldwide, for blending, dissolving, or other purposes, regardless of their application. Magnetic Hot Plates & Overhead stirrers are basic lab equipment that is found in every laboratory. These are used for various heating and stirring needs depending on the application and are available in different configurations with varying capacities and functionalities. Here in this blog we will know the parameters for selecting stirring range for laboratory use. Stirring can be combined with heating and mixing. Choosing between the type of stirrer as per your application is not always a simple task, to use a correct instrument to get the desired result there are several factors to be considered: Volume of sample Viscosity of sample Heat requirement Type of vessel Type of mixing Magnetic stirrers offer low noise, better efficiency, lesser instances of external parts breaking or wearing out. Basically a magne...
